About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

before it departs do i need a transit visa if I'm only staying at the airport ?

I hold an iraqi passport and my flight is from auckland to Dubai but the stop over is for 30 hours

Since you have an iraqi passport and stay for over 30 hours, you are unable to enjoy eiher the 24-hour or the 72-hour free transit policy in the airport. You need to apply for a Transit G in advance before you leave from Auckland.
