About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

do I need to leave my passport at the consulate to get my chinese visa?

i will be traveling in china, but I cannot afford to leave my passport with the consulate as I need it to travel to other countries in the meantime.

It should be left in the embassy for application, because the passport is a required documents for application.

Usually, the process days are around four working days, so you may stop traveling during these four days.
