Pingyao old town to high speed the GuCheng train station by public bus

Hi there,

Just after a little advice if anyone has any. We need to get from PY(within the ancient town walls) to the new high speed train station PY GuCheng.

I've read on this site that there is a public bus from PY to the new train station, also that the buses may be red or purple? And fare cost 3RMB one way.

Does anyone have any additional information?

Do these buses depart from the PY bus station (near North gate) or the train station?

Are these buses regular? E.g. 12noon on a Monday is ok?

How do we know what bus it is? Number/colour?

How long does the bus take?

How much is the fare?

Thanks in advance for any help all, just trying to fill in the blanks. Hopefully this will help others in the future too.

Bests, Steve

I went there last week. And you are right that direct public bus is available from the railway station to the new high-speed train station, purple bus costing CNY3 per person. The starting point of the bus is PY Bus Station, but it also passes the railway station, where you can flag down the bus to get on.

I still remember that the bus has no an exact number. There are just main stations on its front window (汽车站-双林寺-高铁站). Its terminal stop is the Gucheng Railway Station and the whole trip seemed to take around half an hour.

BTW, the bus is clean and comfortable. You can even bring your big luggage onboard.

If you have other confusing, I'm glad to help.

Hope help and have fun.
