It cannot be overcome. No matter where you get a Chinese visa, you need to apply a new one after you reach Kathmandu. You cannot apply it in Tibet, because it is need to travel in China.

Sir,
Your answer is highly appreciated, this means that after I complete the trip to Tibet from Kathmandu , I have to return to Kathmandu and apply afresh for Chinese visa and proceed to China Main land, instead of proceeding directly to Mainland China from Tibet.- K S Chowdary, mail id: ksc999gmail.com

I think the way you can overcome it is by traveling to Chinese area outside Tibet first. In that way, you can still use your individual Chinese Visa to enter China, and then apply for Tibet Travel Permit in Mainland China. You can not apply a Chinese visa in Tibet, because it is part of Mainland China.

And I don't think you have to return to Kathmandu to re-apply for a new Chinese Visa, as the Group visa is still valid in the rest of China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan). The only thing is that the Group Visa gives you only limited time (up to 28 days) in China without the possibilities to extend inside China
