Fast train from Shanghai to Beijijng

How difficult is to buy tickets and go through security without a chinese speaking guide? We are in our 70s and this is our first time in China.

Pass the security is not a problem but it would be a little difficult to explain to the ticket counter which train you want and what seat clas to choose. Sometime time it is hard to find some who can speak English to help you. Thus, may be you can choose to book online in advance. It willl make things easier.
