About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Change Duration of Each Stay on Tourist Visa

My Mother-in-law is coming to stay with us for 6 weeks when our new baby is born. She was just issued a multiple entry one, but with a duration of each stay at 30 days. 30 days does not help us for a 6 week visit. Can this easily be changed or extended once she gets here? Would it be better to do before she leaves the states?

The duration of each stay can be extended within China, but at most, it can be extended once for around 30 days. The extension cannot be done in USA.

Since your mother-in-law got a multiple one, she can exit and re-enter China every 30 days to ensure she can stay for around 6 weeks.

She only needs one extension (she's here about 45 days) so that would be a lot easier and cheaper than having her exit and return. Thanks for the information

If she only needs on extension, she can try to extend it. Applying for an extension is cheaper and easier than traveling out and returning.
