About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Bali - GUANGZHOU - HANGZHOU - AMSTERDAM

I have a ticket to transit china on my way from Indonesia towards the Netherlands - I fly into Guangzhou, but from there I am on an internal flight to Hangzhou, from where my flight to Amsterdam leaves.

Will I have any problems with the 72 hours visa? (Will it be necessary at all if I do not leave the airports?)

Thank you

Since you will have a stop in Hangzhou, you are not qualified for the 72-hour free transit. According to the policy, both the departure and the arrival flights to China are non-stop ones.

You may enjoys the 24-hour free transit, if your total transfering time is less than 24 hours.

Dear Alvin,

Thank you very much for your answer, (much appreciated) - I never knew there was a 24-hour free transit possibility, -

If I understand you correctly, then I shouldn't be worried about having to get a tourist visa before I fly, just because my flights happen to pass through China (the transfer is not more than 24 hours)

If so, your understanding is right. You do not need to apply one in advance.
