About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

We arrive in Shanghai by air and transit to a cruise to leave Shanghai 6 hrs later.Visa required?

Flying from London via Abu Dhabi to arrive in Shanghai at 11 in the morning then taxi to the port in Shanghai and leave the same afternoon on a cruise ship (17.00)

Since you will stay for just 6 hours, you are qualified for the 24-hour free transit. You just need to apply for a stay permit to leave the airport for the cruise terminal. The ordinary Transit G is not needed.
