About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

Which visa should I apply for? Thanks-- Bill McNamara

Hi, I will be a tourist in Shanghai in February 2015 for about 8 hours and then 4-5 days in Hong Kong.

If you fly from USA to Shanghai and then HK, you are eligible for 72 hours free transit. So you needn't apply for any type in advance. However, you'd better confirm that your flights (USA to Shanghai, and Shanghai to HK) don't stop at other Chinese airports.
