Do I need to book in adavance if I wish to hold and photograph a panda?

I have a trip booked in April to visit both Bifeng Gorge and the Cheng Dhu breeding centre. I know at the breeding centre it is necessary to book in advance to hold and photograph a panda. Is booking also needed at the gorge? Sue
