what's the difference between an F and an M visa

also can the letter of invitation be just a printed out one from an email or can it be a fax or does it have to be a hard copy?

The F type is used for those who go to China for study tour, exchanges, meetings and other activities, while the M type is used for those who want to purchase or sell something in China.

For the invitation letter, it is suggested to provide the original one.
