About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Our flight only has a 15 hr stopover in Beijing, can we extend this to a 72hr layover?

Hi, we are confused! We want to book a flight from Bangkok to London. The scheduling suggests we would have a 15 hr stop in Beijing. We would like to extend this to take advantage of the 72 hr allowance. Can we do this on this ticket, and just get on the next available flight (sorting it out on arrival in Beijing), or do we need to book two separate flights, one from Bangkok to Beijing, and another from Beijing to London 3 days later?

Thanks!

Joe

You can book connecting tickets from London to Beijing and then Bangkok with a stopover in Beijing for 15 hours. If you want to stay for longer than 15 hours, you can book two seperate tickets. You can enjoy the 72-hour free transit under either of the sitution. But remember to book all the tickets in advance, because the ticket with confirmed seat is required to show when you apply to leave Beijing airport.

Thanks John for the reply... after realsing that the ticket price was not more expensive (even with the stop over) we did exactly as you've suggested!
