About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

2 separate airline tickets, different carriers

Does anyone know if the 72-hour visa applies if booking 2 separate, non-linking tickets from unconnected airlines? For example, a Philippine Air flight from Manila, arriving Beijing Nov 6, and an S7 (Russian) airline ticket departing to Russia 36 hours later on Nov 8? I wasn't quite clear on the meaning of 'interline' tickets here. These carriers have no mutual agreements or arrangements thus I'd only be able to check in and obtain the boarding pass for the 2nd leg of the trip once in Beijing.

Based on my experience, you can still enjoy the 72-hour free transit, even though you have 2 seperate airline tickets. If you can show your next trip ticket with confirmed seat, you are qualified for the free transit policy.
