any ways to convert s2 visa to work z

Hi I have been offered a job in Shanghai but the employer/school wasn't able issue me supporting documents for a Z type but instead got me S2 visa,the reason-due to time constrain(one of their teachers had to leave mid semester so they are in immediate need for someone to take their place).Is their any way that they can convert a S2 to Z type if I decide to take the job.Thank you!

In China mainland, you cannot change S2 to Z type in person. You can try to apply for it in HK with necessary documents or find a agency in China mainland to help you to apply. Based on my information, there are many such kind of agencies in Shanghai, so you can look for it online. According to the laws, it is illegal to work with a S2, so you are suggested to apply for a Z type as soon as possible. You need to ask your employer to provide you an invitation letter and a work permit. With them, you can apply for a Work Z.
