how much is the subway from guangzhou airport to downtown/canton tower?

We will be arriving at 0520AM and have until 0540PM to explore downtown, how much is it for a one way or should we just get a day pass type deal?Which is the best line to take to explore on? We wanted to stick to line 3 since we can get back to the airport quite easily but if there more to do on another line we will do that.Thanks
