About:China Green Card (Permanent Residence Permit)

Recommendation on PR/ long term stay in China.

Hi, I know it seems very hard to get a Chinese PR. However, my partner is from China and we are planning to get married. I also intend to start my life in China to settle down and look for a job. I'm just wondering what kind of visa/procedure do you recommend us to do? I really hope we won't break up just because i couldn't live in China. That is why i have been looking for solutions up and down. Thank you and much appreciated!

Bernard, you need to apply for a Z type if you plan to work in China. Otherwise, you need to apply for a Q1 type to stay as long as you can in China. However, Q type doesn't allow you to work.

Hi, thank you!! However as i know i can only apply for the Z type if i have been employed by a Chinese company. If not, i can not apply for it. Is that true? What do you reckon?

Yes, you should apply for a Z type if you are already recuited by a Chinese company. Your company should assist you to apply for the work permit first. Then you can take it to apply for the Z type.

Thank you Betty. However, how long is the duration of stay with Z type? What will happen if my type Z expires, because i plan to stay for a long term. Do i keep renewing? Or is there any possibility that i may apply for a Green card?

Bernard,

The Z type is valid for 30 days only. You are required to apply for a temporary residence permit within 30 days when you arrive. It takes 7 to 15 days. Once you have the temporary residence permit, you can stay longer in China.
