is z visa extendable in foreign country where have china embassy

My friend has Work Z and only one day left for expiry , he is in his country can not come china recently due of some problem , can china embassy help him in his country in extending  the Z type

It is impossible to extend the Work Z in his country. Extension can only be done in China. If this one expires, he may need to apply for a new one in his country directly.
