About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

My wife is chinese but we were registered in the UK. I want to stay for a long time in China, how?

Hi, my wife is Chinese and we are currently living together in china shanghai under a Q2 visa. i am a british citizen and we got married in the UK, is it possible for me to get a longer term visa in order to stay for a longer time and if so what do i need to do from A-Z? my current Q2 will expire in november so i would appreciate any help. Many Thanks.

It is suggested to go to the local Exit-Entry Adminstration Burea for consulting directly.
Personally speaking, if you have Q2 and want to stay longer, you can extend your Q2 and then you can stay for another period less then 180 days.

If you want to stay more than 180 days or even longer, you are suggested to go to HK to try to apply for a Q1. Then you can change your Q1 to a residence permit after you enter China. With the residence permit, you can stay in China for a long time, at least more than 180 days.
