Hong Kong MTR unlimited pass

I've heard there is a MTR pass for Hong Kong that allows unlimited rides on the subway to any station within Hong Kong, Kowloon and Lantau. Is this true? And if so, does anyone know the cost of each pass and how long the passes are good for?

According to the information from MTR there is no unlimited pass. But there is a new MTR City Saver which is available for most stations. It cost HKD400 and by using it you can take 40 times within 30 days. Also there is Monthly Pass Extra available. Within the valid month, the times of ride is unlimited between some designated stations.

Thanks, Peter. What about the Octopus card? I've heard of that. Can anyone purchase one of those? And is that a card that I can use for all subway rides?

The Octopus card can be purchased by anyone and it can be used for all the route. By using this card it would a little cheaper than one way ticket. You can try to call (85)2266 2222 the Octopus Customer Service Hotline.
