Special diet

I will be visiting China for 2 weeks in late September. I am gluten intolerant and cannot eat foods that contain wheat, barley or rye. I am also allergic to apples and prawns. Is finding foods I can eat going to be a problem?

Cindy, how about rice? Are you alergic to rice? Wheat and rice are staple food for Chinese people. If you are alergic to rice too, I am afraid that you may have difficulties when you dine in China. It doesn't matter that you are alergic to apple and prawn. Anyway, you should tell the waiter what you are alergic to before you order dishes. If necessary, you may brng a slip of paper saying "我对谷类食品过敏,包括大麦,小麦和黑麦。另外,我也不能吃苹果和虾。". Then the waiter can understand it in a better way. If you are alergic to all kinds of seafood, you may say "我对海鲜也过敏。"
