Can I transfer to another company less than a month after I get the work and residence permits?

Hello,
This is my situation: I am now in the process of getting my residence permit (I got my work permit last week.) There are gisagreements between my company and me (long sotry but one of them is the reduction of salary). I want to quit and find a new job. But I'm very concerned about how to deal with the residence permit? Is it okay to transfer to another company this soon? Thanks for your help.

The process of ransfering your residence permit to another company is a not fast.
You need to cancel your current work permit first and then ask your new company to apply for a new one. Then you can use the new one and other necessary documents to apply for a new residence permit. The whole process may take around 15 working days.

Since you are in the process of getting your residence permit, you are suggested not to change your job now. You can change after you get your residence permit.

Thanks Andy. I will probably get my residence permit in the middle of September, and move to another company after the October national holidays.

So I am in a similar situation. US citizen and transferring jobs. My residence permit does not expire until March 2015 but I will begin a new job in November. Once I get my letter from my old employer saying they have released me, I can take that, a copy of my lease and other paperwork to have everything transferred over? Will I have to leave the country and reapply for another Z type or is it really that simple. Things in China change everyday so I need some help! Thanks!

Hi, you will change your job within the same city or in two cities?
In general, you need to get a new work permit. Then with the new work permit, you can get a new residence permit in China. You do not need to go back to your country to apply a new Work Z.
