Indonesian and Australian Passport want to Shenzhen

Hi,
I would like to ask, If Indonesian passport never been to China (only to Hong Kong ages ago) -
Do they need to apply visa at China embassy in Indonesia to go to Shenzhen or they can obtain with VOA ?
We are planning to visit Shenzhen(3-4days) from HK/Macau.
How about with Australian passport, Do we need to apply before hand to go HK, Macau and Shenzhen?
Thank you

It is suggested to apply a tourist L type in advance in Chinese embassy in Indonesia for people with Indonesian passport. It is almost impossible to get VOA since they have never been to China.

For Australian pass, you can get one as I saw from many people get it. However, personally speaking, if time is possible, it is still suggested to apply in advance. The fee is similar and applying in advance can save a lot of time and avoid many troubles, so it is suggested so.
