I will be travelling from Dongzhimen so trying to work out when I can come back to Dongzhimen.

It takes 3 to 4 hours to visit the wall and around 2 hours for a single trip from Beijing. Sou you need to get to Dongzhimen as early as you can to ensure that you can get back from there to Beijing.
