Apple, I don't know what procedures you need to go through at HKIA. Last year, I boarded a plane at Beijing Airport with my friends who had fracture in his arm. There were some metal steel nails in his arm. He didn't take any documents. The security let him go though he was detected to have metal items on his body.

Usually, a diagnosis proof from your doctor is enough if you are still worried. I think you'd better call HKIA to confirm if you need to take any documents.
