Maximum Chinese currency allowed for 90 days visa

I am traveling to Shanghai on a 90 day visa. Can you pls let me know what is the maximum amount of CNY I am allowed to carry?

Chitra, you are allowed to take as much as 20000 RMB in cash. If want to carry more, you'd better bring a traveler's cheque or deposit it into your bank account.
