If I want to do a city sightseeing, may I obtain the transit visa in Baiyun airport directly?

Hi, I am a Colombian citizen living in France. I'm travelling to Melbourne (double-trip) and my flight (China Southern Airlines) has a connection of 3 hours (go) and 19 hours (return) in Baiyun, Canton.

Juan, you can exit the airport if you plan to visit the city because you enjoy 24 hours free transit. However, you should apply for a stay permit when you arrrive at the airport.

Phil, a temporary stay permit is free of charge and you can apply for it at the airport immigration office. After getting off from the plane, you can follow the direction signs to go to the immigration office to apply for it.
