About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

there's any way to transfer s2 visa to s1 in china mainland

I am Vietnamese, and my husband is U.S citizen, he has been working in china on a Z type, I would like to go there live with him during his one year contract. I have got a s2 type now, but its only valid for a month. Can I somehow apply for another type (i.e. S1) to stay there longer in china mainland?? And to do it, what documents do I need???

S2 cannot be changed to S1 in China mainland and you cannot apply for a S1 in China, too. But you can choose to extend your S2 for another 30 days before your current one expires at local PSB. Your husband's residence permit and your marriage certificate are needed for extension.

For other types, what do you mean?
If you only want to visit your husband, you can only apply for S type and the embassy/consulate will decide whether to isse you S1 or S2, no matter who issue the invitation letter.
