You mean you want to visit Shanghai or make transfering there?
If you want to visit Shanghai, you still need to apply for a tourist type since you are using your Canadian passport.

it is suggested to consult the Chinese embassy in Canada to make sure about it. As I know, you cannot hold Canadian passport and Chinese ID card at the same time.
