About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour visa free for my trip?

On 18th September I arrive on British Airways at Beijing and 7 hours later I leave Beijing on Thai International for Bangkok to take a cruise around the far east, including Shanghai, before re-entering China at Tianjin and staying in Bejing for 7 days. The embassy has issued a double entry visa (for Shanghai and Tianjin) but say that I should use the 72 transit free on my arrival in Beijing on 18th September. On the fact sheet that the embassy has sent me it states, amongst other conditions, that to use the 72 hour free transit service, 'tourists should have been reported to the Chinese Frontier Inspection Organization by their airline prior to their visit'. I have spoken to British Airways and they say there is nothing they need to do.
Am I going to experience problems when I arrive at Beijing International?

Since your first transit will be in Beijing, it is not necessary to tell the airline.
You can just apply for the 72-hour free transit at the 72-hour free transit counter in the airport on your own.
You will not face any problems, since your trip is qualified for that.

Thanks for your reply. Judging by the number of questions asked on this site it seems that I am not the only one who is confused.
