looking to buy cheap things in guangzhou

Question

Had great shopping experiences in Thailand and Indonesia but having problems in GZ since all markets are concentrated with the same product (eg, jewelery market or underwear market) and all seem to be for wholesalers.  Does anyone know some market where the local folks in GZ would shop where I can go to by various things are cheap prices?

Shangxiajiu Street is one of the most popular shopping sites that local people would go. You’d better try to bargain on the price.

Thanks Helen - will go there tomorrow.  Had a great shopping day today although it took sometime asking my way around and it was tough not speaking Chinese.  Wanted to buy cheap phones.  Found  Highsun Electrical Appliance Market at Donghu and did a lot of haggling on the prices but spent USD 280 and got 3 Samsung S4 phonwa ($50 each) and 2 Samsung Ipads ( 7 inch for $65 each.).  Quite satisfied.
