About:Chinese Consulate in Calgary

Hello,we aretaking a cruise out of Shanghai

We arrive on Sep 3rd and go straight to the ship for embarkation. Do we need to buy a chinese visa for the trqnsit from the plane to the ship?

You reach Shanghai by flight and then leave Shanghai by cruise? If so, it is not needed.
You just need to apply for a stay permit at the airport with your passport and the cruise ticket. Then you can get out of the airport.
