My birthday is 8/8/1988, does this mean I'm doomed for struggle and bad luck?

Who told you this? 8 is a very auspicious number to Chinese people. I should say that you were born on a very good day. 8 means prosperity. Since you have four 8, you will be prosperous in the future.
