Do you need to make an appointment with Chinese embassy in Dublin to apply for a visa for Beijing?

I'm flying out on Friday 1st August from Heathrow. I need to get one for Beijing. I have an irish passport. Do I need to make an appointment first before I go to the embassy with my application form to apply. I want to get the express service. Do you need to show your flights already booked? Thanks

You needn't make an appointment to submit your application. According to my knowledge, you need to get aprroved by the consular department if you want to use the express service. Which type will you apply for? If it is L type, round trip air tickets are required.
