About:China Train

Can I carry my cat via bus or slow train from Nanjing to Shanghai?

I have all of her health certificates and papers, but I am trying to figure out the best way to transport my cat from one city to the other. Are there any suggestions? I prefer go by rail. Also, does any have information about extra charges?

I heard it is possible, but i suggest that you consult the railway station in Nanjing first.
You have to consign your cat as luggage. First you need to get the vaccination certificate for your cat at least one week in advance. Then two days before departure, take your cat and the certificate to a veterinary station that authenticated by the railway station for a health examine to get a health certificate and then a quarantine certificate. One day before departure, go to the veterinary station to have the quarantine certificate stamped.
the day of departure, you should go the railway station at least 2 - 3 hours in advance to have your cat consigned, your cat have to be put into a special box or a irony cage.

Thanks for your information. I do think this is the normal response for train travel, but I have also been hearing stories about people taking their pets via bus travel. Has anyone had any experience with that? I assume it would be much easier to take a cat on a bus rather than a train. Just putting my cat in my backpack and hiding it from the staff?? Only heard a few stories like this, but does anyone have regulations for the bus companies?

I'm not sure about bus. But i know that you have to take security check to enter a long-distance bus station, so the staff will find your cat, unless you take a private car.
