Hello!  We are in the early stages of planning a trip to QF to accompany our grandson who, hopefully, will be attending the QF Shaolin Kung Fu School in the Summer of 2015.  I understand that there is bus service from city center to the school, about 25 Km away.  We are interested in finding out what accomodations for 2 senior foreigners  might be that would provide us close access to the bus route that goes to the school.  We are also interested in what opportunities locally would be available for attending Mandarin classes and Chinese cooking classes with convenient access by bus from our accomodations.  The length of our trip would be 1 to 2 months.Thank you!

Since the school is the park, you can take the buses to that park to get that school.In this way, the Guangda Longdu Hotel and Luming Hotel near the local bus station are suggested. From local bus station, there are direct buses for the Shimenshan with interval around half an hour. For the short-term mandarin classes, it is hard to find such courses in that city.  Only in Qufu Normal Universiy, there is a Chinese Traditional Cultural Experiencing Course. This course provide Chinese Kungfu information, Chinese calligraphy information, basic mandarin knowledge and so on. You can choose any course you want to learn. I am not sure whether this kind of course is suitable for you? The course lasts around one month. Maybe you can contact them for knowing more information. But basically, most of the cooking classes are provide by local tour agency. So you may need to know more from the local tour agency. Hope the information I provided is helpful ~
