I have a single entry visa but just realized that my trip to Tibet and Nepal takes me out of China

I am a student taking a trip to Tibet and Nepal (I started in Xiamen) and will leave through Shanghai. I realize now I have to re-enter China. I am already in progress of my trip (I'm in China now). How can I get back in? I have a UK passport.
