About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shanghai for 36 hours.

Hi,

We will be flying into Shanghai at about 2330 hrs and leaving via Cruise ship approx midday basically the day after. Can we use the free Transit or do we require the G, as it appears the Transit permit can only be used for those that fly in and out via the same airport? We are booked into a Shanghai Hotel for the two nights [the night we arrive and the following night] before joining our cruise.

NO, you can not avail this free transit if you plan to leave by cruise. So, a transit G visa is required and you have to apply for it in advance.
