French passport : trip from HK to Shenzhen

Hello,

I live in Singapore and hold a French Passport. I am going to HK for business and need to also transfer to Shenzhen by train. Can I ask for visa on arrival in Shenzhen?

You need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance in Singapore.

However, I have had both that answer and the one saying I can apply on arrival... it is a bit confusing...

Because VOA is not available for US and French passport holders. You are advised to apply in advance when you are in Singapore.
