Do I need to go back to renew the travel document for my baby?

Hi,

My baby just born this month in the U.S. We(her parents) are Chinese citizen, and we plan to go back to China in October. The travel document is valid for 2 years, do we need to renew it before it expired? We plan to let our baby stay in China as long as she can.

Thank you!

Yes, your baby is deemed a Chinese citizen if you both are Chinese citizens without US permanent residence Card. Travel Document of PRC is required if your baby will return to China.

Hi Kitty,

Thanks for your quick response. We also want to keep our baby's US citizenship, so we are worried that if our baby stay in China for a long time(15 years) she will lose her US citizenship.

Hi, I am not sure about this, you may find yourself a lawyer for more information. This forum is for topic of China so I am thinking the answers from guests here may not be accurate enough.
