About:China Customs Declaration

I'm looking to bring some gifts to friends living in China (things not accessible in China, such as cosmetics and personal accessories)

would I have to declare these gift items if they are each under 2,000 RMB?

Yes, once the value of these things is over 2,000RMB, you need declare them!
