Is there a maximum amount of US Dollars I can carry into or out of China?

When traveling to China, is there a maximum amount of US dollars I can carry into the country? My intent is to convert the US dollars to RMB when I arrive. When I depart, is there a limit to the amount of RMB I can convert back to US dollars
