About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

Is it not possible to apply for Visa earlier than 3 months before arriving to China?

As we are travelling around the world for 6 months and arriving to China after 4 months, we cannot apply before the 3 month-rule - is it then possible to apply earlier than 3 months or apply in a embassy in a different country - a country that we stay in during our trip?

You can apply for it in a third country during your trip. A single entry is only valid for 3 months from issue date, so it expires if you apply too early.
