Getting a Z Visa in the Embassy of China in Israel

Hello. My husband and I will be visiting my Israeli parents this July. We are American citizens holding American passports. We both entered China from the US with the Z. Mine will be renewed with no problems, but his will not since the rule has apparently changed(?); we need to show that we are married, send our original certificate to Beijing (I am not sure whether we need to be there in person...), translate it from English into Chinese, and only then he can get a Z. That will take too much time and thus, we will not be able to make it onto the plane on time. His residency in China will expire on July 20th. We will be in Israel from July 14th to 26th.
My question, how long does it take to renew the Z while we are in Israel? What documentation is required? How much is it?
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to hear from you very soon.

Hi, do you all have residence permit? if yes, you may only need to renew your residence permit within China before leaving for Israel. Once you leave China, the renewal means a new application actually (apply for a new work Z). The residence permit can not be renewed either if you exit.
