Is it possible to add entries to a single-entry X2 visa (short-term studies) without shortening it ?

I am attending a sumer school in Beijing this summer. I wish to travel to Hong Kong during my stay, but in my country of origin (France) they can only offer a single-entry X2. They recommended that I seek help with the authorities once in China. I do not wish to extend it, but only to add one or two entries to it. I will arrive on the 3rd of July and want to go to Hong Kong on the 11th, is this possible ? Will adding entries to it shorten the original stay? I need to stay in China for a bit longer than 2 months. 谢谢您的帮助!

Hi, it is possible to apply for extension after entry, and if necessary with more entries. But it all up to the PSB actually. So what you need to do is entry first then prepare ticket to HK or invitation letter for this application.

Thank you for the prompt information. So I should first arrive in China, and then go see what the BSP tells me, is that it? If so, I will try calling them from France. It would be easier to plan ahead. Also, I'm not sure what "invitation letter" you are talking about?

My main worry is that applying for extension (in the sole purpose of getting new re-entries) as soon as I arrive will shorten the original duration of my visa. Does any one know about this ?

Hi, as I know, the extension will not shorten the original duratoon of stay. I agree with what Brad said above that you can enter first so seek help from the local PSB, or at least you can apply for a new visa when you are in HK. Nothing you can do to plan ahead because it is impossible to cancel it then apply again for a double entry X2, right?

From what the center in Paris told me, they simply refuse to give double entry X2. "If there's more than one entry on an X2, it's not valid" the staff told me. But they also said I could fix that in Beijing...
I don't think getting a new one in Hong Kong is a good idea. I would only be able to get a tourist L type there, and it wouldn't last long enough. Last time I checked French nationals had a hard time getting long-duration one in HK.
Thanks again for all the help!
