About:Chinese Consulates in South Korea

Is the 6 month validity of ARC from when you apply for the VISA or when you will be using it?

Does the 6 month validity of ARC apply to layovers of less than 72 hours?

Does the 6 month validity apply if I am not planning to rerurn to Korea afterward, but instead planning of going home to Canada?

Thank you.

Also, I have heard that it is possible to go around the 6 month validity by applying in Busan. Is this an unfounded rumour or truth?

Hi, 6 month validity of ARC is only required when you apply for Chinese visa. If you want to avail the 72 hour free transit, your passport and leaving ticket are enough. You have not mentioned which city are you transit in China, so I thought the 72 hour free transit policy should be available in the city. I also heard that it is possible to get a visa with ARC valid for less than 6 months in Busan, but it was long time ago. You are advised to contact CVASC branch directly for confirmation.
