Maybe Kashgar to Quinghai and then south to Lhasa?

Hi,

I will arrive on Motorcycle coming in from Kyrgyzstan. My objective is to take myself to Katmandu. I have been told that Ngari area is closed for foreigners due to pilgrims traveling (year of the horse) and will open in August again. Wonder if this restriction goes for all Tibet or if possible to get to the boarder crossing Tibet/Nepal via an alternative route? Maybe Kashgar to Quinghai and then south to Lhasa and in that way? Swedish and have all my papers in order and will get a guide to travel with me. Grateful for your help.

From Tibet to Nepal, you need to reach Zhangmu first where you can pass the border to reach Nepal and then to Katmandu.

You can enter other places in Tibet if you have certain permits and documents. I think your plan through Qinghai to Lhasa and then Zhangmu is a good choice. But in this way, you may need to ride for a long time on the road, so I hope you do not mind.

Anyway, hope you can have a nice trip ~
