getting multiple entry visa from student x

Question

I ran Into all sorts of problems at the Chinese visa office. I really wanted a multiple entry so I could travel around Asia when on a New York university language program but they would only authorize a student X. How can I get a multiple entrance one once in shanghai? How much trouble will it be? Is it possible? And if so where can I find which documents I will need to bring to the shanghai office?

Hi, student X2 type can be issued with more than one entry. And if you apply for student X1 type, you can get a residence permit that allows multiple entry. It is advised to apply for it directly when you are in your home country.
