About:Chinese Consulate in Manchester

*HELP* Can I get my CRB (Criminal check) Authenticated at the Chinese Consulate in Manchester??

I am moving to China in June to teach. I have been told by employer that I must authenticate my CRB check before I go, so I can get my work permit in Xiaoshan.

I have applied for my Z working visa at the Manchester Application center BUT they said I can't get it stamped there.

Can this be done at the consulate?
Is there a cost?
Can I just walk in?
.....And will they ever answer the phone?

Any advise please.

Yes, you should authenticate your CRB at Chinese consulate in Manchester and no appointment is required. You need to pay Sterling 15 on collection.

Thanks Martin!

Unfortunately I called the consulate who said they can only authenticate my CRB once is has been notarised and legalised.

Bit of a spanner in the works.

Yes, if your document were not issued by a British government authority, it has to be sent to a local international notary public for notarisation.
Then next step to send the document, notarised by notaries, to the Legalization office of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) or an authorised department by FCO for legalization. If it was issued by a British government department, you may send them for legalizations to FCO or an authorised department by FCO. At last, do the final authentication at Chinese consulate.

Thank you both.

CRB is on it's way to the disclosure office now who have said they can notarize it for free.
