signature or pin for purchase using foreign credit card in China?

Hi, hope to get some advice.

I heard that when foreigners buy things in china using foreign credit card, one need to provide pin number instead of signature as china do not recognise signature. is that true? so i need to request my bank to provide me with pin number before i travel to china?

It may depends on the places. Some places accept the signatures as well.
But in order to make sure, you are suggested to ask the PIN cde in case of any special circumstances.
