To get the 72 hours visa free transit

i'm planning to go from Detroit to Shanghai with Delta airline, book flight with a low cost chinese airline Shanghai to Bangkok (booked in advance here in USA).

Do i need the low cost chinese airline ticket showing the seat number or simply the proof of reservation including proof of payment ?

So flying out Shanghai with spring airline wich seems to offer only a printable itinerary and a eticket number is going to be a problem ?
